Read those Resumes before hitting “apply”
What are the chances of you getting a date if you went out without showering, no deodorant, wearing stained jeans, torn shirt and a scruffy look? Probably none, unless you live in an area where that look is considered normal. However, here in the D.C. Metro area, chances of you meeting someone, anyone, is slim to none. Fortunately, that’s not the majority of people in our area.
So why is it that so many people in this area looking for new jobs can’t even write a resume? Do you really think that resumes with mismatching fonts, spelling errors, formatting errors, overuse of tables, bad grammar etc will jump out? Yet you’re still wondering as to why you have not gotten any feedback on all those jobs that you applied to? Okay, let me be the first to tell you that an interview is not the most important part of your job search. Your Resume is the most important part of your job search. Without a good one, you can continue to sit by your phone or clicking “check for new” in Outlook for all those emails requesting more information, because you won’t be getting any. At least not from Recruiters or Headhunters that pay attention to such things.
