Stop burning bridges
Obviously you’re either no longer available or interested. The only decent and courteous thing to do is either call us back or email us and let us know that you’re no longer available. That’s it. It’s that simple. No one is going to force you to take a job that you don’t want. I don’t want anyone working for me that does not want to be here either.
By keeping us out of the loop, this is what happens – your name gets on a list in our database that I have my team maintain. This is a list we keep updated at all times and the names on the list are people that we blackball. We never contact them for any future openings, ever. And guess what, the client that you interviewed with – chances of you ever working with that group is next to none. Until the person(s) that you interviewed with is no longer there.
It’s really very easy to not get on the list – just be upfront and honest with people. Why would you want to ruin your professional credibility with not just one but two companies? And since you’re doing this to us and our client, I’m pretty sure you’ve done this several times before with other companies. Really, not a good strategy for the long term.
