The State of our Financial Market

I was resisting the urge to write about the recent banking meltdown with household names like Fannie and Freddie, Countrywide, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Wachovia, AIG, Bear Stearns etc., goliaths taking a fall due to poor decisions made by a few and whose effects are now felt by millions across the globe.

Since this is not a political blog – I’m going to keep all politics out of this and refrain from the blame game.

This meltdown has a direct impact on us Recruiters and Headhunters. This down turn is not going to last forever but the carnage created due to this market correction may take Years to turn around.

Our biggest challenge as Recruiters will be to help displaced workers find new positions. Fast. There aren’t that many financial positions available in our economy to absorb all the folks that are now looking, so as Specialists in our fields we have to educate our clients and candidates and get creative in trying to find new positions or new careers for these folks altogether.

Being local to the D.C. area, I’ve already seen a Lot of resumes coming out of Fannie and Freddie – from Business & Financial Analysts to Testers, Developers, Programmers, DBA’s and Project Managers. I’m going to assume this is probably the same in the NYC area as well as other parts of the country.

Recruiters: Post your information here through the comment section if you would like potential jobseekers to find you. It does not matter where you are located – if you have access to clients that could absorb even one displaced worker, it’s a start.

Please also share your ideas, thoughts and suggestions for everyone to read.
